Three years ago I began a journey at only eighteen years old. I left the small town in Ohio where I grew up, leaving everyone I knew and loved behind. I moved to Orange City to attend college at Stetson University as a Psychology major. I spent my entire life riding horses and had one goal in mind, to begin my professional riding career
in Florida. I had spent most of my life traveling around from competition to competition, so being independent and responsible wasn't an option - it was a requirement. Finally, the moment of truth arrived, the moment we all experience during the beginning of adulthood, "Now What?". I needed to have a career aside from riding, and nothing seemed to fit. At twenty years old, starting a business isn't usually the first idea that pops into your mind; however, three months later, I decided I was going to open a spa.
Growing up on a horse farm, in a small Ohio town, the word "spa" is almost meaningless, so of course this was a shock to my friends and family. After a lot of convincing, my mom
(who has been my biggest
inspiration) decided she would support me, no matter how crazy she thought my plan was. Then, yet another life changing moment happened - I had to sell my horses. After an emotional month passed, TANZ SPA was underway. Six months later, on April 20th, 2008, I opened the doors to a new life....

What we offer... TANZ SPA offers an atmosphere unlike any other tanning salon or spa in the Volusia County area. Our clean and modern design features natural elements, products, and mindset. We promise to give you a place to escape to that makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome. We strive to use as many natural elements from the Earth as we can, and do our part to be eco-friendly. We use "green" cleaning products, 100% recycled paper towels
in our washrooms, cotton rags to
clean with versus paper towels, 100%
recycled copy paper & paper bags. We offer a wide variety of services such as tanning, spray tanning, facials, massages,
manicures & pedicures, body
treatments, and spa parties. We are very proud to be one of the
only Natural-Vegan spa's in Florida and offer the unique services
that we do. We are always changing
things and coming up with new ideas
so be sure to stop by frequently to

finally got my horse back...
Update: May 2009 - I got my other
one back too....she's pregnant!

Mandy Smith
Owner
Mandy has
been intrigued by all
natural/organic skincare and make-up
products since she can remember.
There was no other choice but to
only use and sell natural products
and nothing from a company that does
any form of animal testing or uses
animal products. Being a
Psychology Major, she loves to make
people feel better about themselves,
and put a smile on their face.
Owning a business has always been a
dream of hers and she looks forward
to work every day. Whenever she
isn't at work she is probably
spending time with her boyfriend or
her horses Farley (in photo) or
Faith who is pregnant with her
second foal and due the end of July
2010! She also has two dogs,
Toby - a Great Dane, and Mischa - a Yorkie.... she
likes to keep life "interesting"!

experience with her, and it shows.
She pays careful attention to
details, and takes great care in
being sanitary. She has a wonderful
son who you will see time to time
helping out in exchange for candy
from the vending machine!
Tara Kirwan
Paramedical Esthetician
Tara is a specialist in Image
Skincare and Chemical Peels. She
does all facials, peels, and
microdermabrasion treatments. She is
currently expecting a little boy so
we look forward to another addition
to the spa family!

Jenna is our
newest member of the Tanz Spa
family! She offers facial
treatments, and fantastic make-up
knowledge and experience. She is an
animal lover like the rest of us,
and works part time as a
vet-technician in Lake Mary,
Florida.
